1. Present Tense

a) Simple Present

Rule:

Used for habitual actions, general truths, and facts.

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + V1 (base form) + He, she it, Name (s/es )

  • Negative: Subject + do/does not + V1

  • Question: Do/Does + Subject + V1?

Examples:

  • She writes a letter.

  • she does not write a letter.

  • l write a letter.

  • I do not write a letter.

  • They do not play football. (negative)

  • Does he like coffee? (interrogative)

  • Does he not like coffee?

  • He likes coffee.

b) Present Continuous

Rule:

Used for actions happening right now or temporary actions.

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + is/am/are + V1 + ing

  • Negative: Subject + is/am/are not + V1 + ing

  • Question: Is/Am/Are + Subject + V1 + ing?

Examples:

  • She is writing a letter.

  • They are not playing football.

  • Is he watching TV?

c) Present Perfect

Rule:

Used for actions completed at an unspecified time or relevant to the present.

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + has/have + V3 (past participle) He, she it, Name: Has

  • Negative: Subject + has/have not + V3

  • Question: Has/Have + Subject + V3?

  • Negative/Interrogative: Has/Have + Subject Not + V3?

Examples:

  • She has written a letter.

  • They have not played football.

  • Has he visited London?

d) Present Perfect Continuous

Rule:

Used for actions that started in the past and continue now.

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + has/have been + V1 + ing

  • Negative: Subject + has/have not been + V1 + ing

Examples:

  • She has been writing for two hours.

  • They have not been playing for long.

  • Has he been studying since morning?

2. Past Tense

a) Simple Past

Rule:

Used for actions completed in the past at a specific time.

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + V2 (past form)

  • Negative: Subject + did not + V1

  • Question: Did + Subject + V1?

b) Past Continuous

Rule:
