All Kinds of Present Tenses:

1. Present Simple/indefinite

2. Present Continuous

3. Present Perfect

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense

1. Present Simple Tense

Structure: Subject + base verb (adds s/es with

 he/she/it)

Uses:

• General truths

• Habits and routines

• Permanent situations

• Scheduled events

Time Expressions: always, usually, often, never, 

every day/week, on Mondays

Examples:

• The sun rises in the east.

• She lives in Rawalpindi.

• The train leaves at 5 PM.

• I brush my teeth daily.

Negative:

• The sun does not rise in the east.

• I do not brush my teeth daily.

Interrogative:

• Does the sun rise in the east?

• Do I brush my teeth daily?

2. Present Continuous Tense

Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb + ing

Uses:

• Actions happening now

• Temporary actions

• Changing trends

• Future planned actions

Time Expressions: now, at the moment, right 

now, today, currently

Examples:

• I am eating lunch now.

• They are staying with friends this month.

• Prices are rising fast.

Negative:

• I am not eating lunch now.

Interrogative:

• Am I eating lunch now?

3. Present Perfect Tense

Structure: Subject + have/has + past participle

Uses:

• Life experiences

• Actions at unspecified time

• Repeated actions

• Recently completed actions with result

Time Expressions: ever, never, already, yet, just,

 recently, so far

Examples:

• I have visited Lahore twice.

• She has lost her keys.

• We have lived here for five years.

Negative:

• I have not visited Lahore twice.

Interrogative:

• Have I visited Lahore twice?

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Structure: Subject + have/has been + verb + ing

Uses:

• Actions that started in the past and are still

  continuing

• Focus on duration

Time Expressions: since, for

Examples:

• I have been studying for two hours.

• She has been working since morning.

• They have been playing for a long time.

Negative:

• I have not been studying for two hours.

Interrogative:

• Have I been studying for two hours?

Practice / Classwork (5 minutes)

Activity 1: Fill in the blanks

• She ___ (play) cricket every day.

• I ___ (eat) lunch now.

• They ___ (visit) Lahore twice.

• He ___ (study) for two hours.

Activity 2: Identify the tense

• She is reading a book.

• I play football daily.

• They have finished work.

• He has been working since morning.

Activity 3: Make sentences

• Use “write” in Present Continuous

• Use “eat” in Present Perfect

• Use “study” in Present Perfect Continuous
